A Message from Our Head Boy and Head Girl Méabh McConalogue & Euan Ó Brien

Throughout our years here in Crana College, we have received an extremely high-quality education, and we’re very grateful to be Head Girl and Head Boy in our sixth year. Crana College places a great emphasis on academic achievement and develops students’ abilities in all areas. Not only through learning in the classroom, but through practical and experiential learning too. Students learn from brilliant teachers and mentors throughout the six years of education and students also get the opportunity to take part in some of our school’s amazing extra-curricular opportunities such as a wide variety of sporting teams, Green Schools, Gaisce Award, Pope John Paul II Award, HEADSTRONG: Cycle Against Suicide, Stand-Up Week, JIGSAW: One Good School, ERASMUS projects where students get the opportunity to travel for free to foreign countries to experience the culture and learning environment in other European countries, and the School/Business Partnership Programme. Students in Crana College also have the option of participating in our fantastic school musicals. We have both participated in school musicals and believe it is a wonderful opportunity to sing, dance and act with your fellow students in a safe and comfortable environment.

Students in Crana College also have the option of participating in our school’s fantastic Transition Year programme in their fourth year. It gives students the chance to sample Leaving Certificate subjects and it provides them with a great opportunity to develop life-long skills and qualities, by completing things such as first aid courses, public speaking workshops, short courses and weekly work experience placements in the local community.

We are very proud to say that Crana College is an inclusive, welcoming school that prioritises respect and acceptance. Every student here is encouraged to be themselves and embrace their individuality, through this they flourish socially and academically. Our school has had fantastic success with student initiatives such as the Stand Up Week programme, and many other events related to equality, climate change, and celebrating the Irish culture and language. It has been a wonderful experience attending Crana College for the past six years. Overall, we believe that it is an excellent centre for learning, and that it stands by its' ethos, of 'Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Community and Respect'.
